American speleologist and deep rescue instructor Mark Dickey was rescued from the cave two weeks later. The man spent many hours at the bottom of one of the deepest caves in Türkiye with intestinal bleeding and waiting for help, writes “Komsomolskaya Pravda” with reference to the New York Times.

Morca Cave consists of steep vertical shafts and deep pits. In it, Mark Dickey was conducting scientific research when he suddenly experienced bleeding in his abdominal cavity. He and his partner had no connection with the surface, so his partner had to make a long, many-hour journey to the top to call for help.

More than 180 people took part in the rescue operation - volunteers from eight countries, as well as representatives of the Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority.

The victim was in serious condition at a depth of more than a kilometer, where the air temperature was only 4 degrees with high humidity. Especially to stabilize his condition, food, water, medicines and blood were brought down for transfusion, and a telephone line was installed for communication and even a wireless connection was installed for exchanging text messages.

After a blood transfusion and the threat of death from blood loss was eliminated, the speleologist was raised to the surface. To prevent it from getting stuck in narrow mines, they had to be blown up. The man was lifted, secured to the stretcher with tourniquets.

Immediately after being lifted, he was sent to the hospital to find out the cause of the internal bleeding.
