At the airport of the capital of Finland, as an experiment, they will begin testing the world's first digital tourist passports, writes “Europulse”.

So far, only Finnish citizens flying as tourists to the UK can use such passports. To use a digital passport, you need to download a special application to your smartphone. Passport data is entered into it, which will need to be sent to the border service before the trip.

A digital tourist passport will reduce the time it takes to go through passport control at the border and avoid paperwork. True, the presence of such a passport does not eliminate the need to take an ordinary paper passport with you anyway, since the UK Border Service works with paper documents.

The results of the experiment will be evaluated in 2024. In addition, Croatia plans to conduct a similar experiment with digital passports this year.
