A French tourist has stolen more than 40 kilograms of pebbles and stones from the beach on the island of Sardinia in Italy in the Porto Conte Natural Park, writes the Italian edition of La Reppublica.
By law, it is forbidden to take sand, shells and stones from the beaches of Sardinia, for which a fine of several thousand euros is due. A lover of beach souvenirs was detained while boarding a ferry to Nice, he was carrying 41 kilograms of pebbles and stones in his luggage.
Now the thief faces a fine of up to 3 thousand euros, and the stones themselves were returned to the beach from which they were trying to withdraw.
