Autumn racing season starts in Turkmenistan

In the equestrian centers of the capital and velayats of the country, the autumn season of horse racing started today, which brought together numerous fans of equestrian sport, which is very popular in Turkmenistan, the homeland of the world-famous Ahal-Teke horses, in the stands, the information program Watan of the Turkmen television reported.

According to the established good tradition, the events organized on the occasion of the races were held in the atmosphere of a great holiday. The start of the competition was preceded by performances by well-known dance and folklore groups, baghshy and pop artists.

Demonstration performances of Turkmen athletes, as well as competitions in chess and national sports aroused great interest among the audience. Exhibitions prepared by masters of arts and crafts were dedicated to Ahal-Teke horses and the beauty of Turkmen nature.

The Ashgabat Equestrian Complex hosted 7 races, in which more than 50 horses participated. 3, 4-year-old and older Ahal-Teke horses took to the racetracks. The winners in the races were determined in the races of 1400, 1600, 2000 and 2200 meters.

The best result among young riders was shown by Parahat Orazov, who covered the distance of 2200 meters on Kysmat in 2 minutes 47 seconds. This race was attended by horses aged 3 and more years.

The riders who won the first places in all seven races were solemnly awarded prizes.

The Ahal-Teke horse is considered a national treasure in Turkmenistan. His image is placed on the State Emblem of the country as a symbol of independence and freedom.

Currently, there are equestrian complexes of international level in every region of Turkmenistan. In Ashgabat, such a complex was created specifically for keeping horses of the elite Ahal-Teke breed.
