The American startup TransAstra, together with NASA, will develop a prototype of “bags” for space debris, writes Mail.ru with reference to Space News.
Before being sent into space, “bags” for collecting space debris will be tested on Earth. After the launch of the project, inflatable structures in the form of bags will capture spent rocket bodies, non-working geostationary communications satellites and asteroids weighing up to 50 thousand tons in the airless space around the planet. The new garbage collection device does not need docking, unlike other similar designs.
The captured garbage TransAstra offers to transport to the ThinkPlatform orbital processing plant of another space startup ThinkOrbital. True, when such a plant will be created, no one can say for sure.
