On August 21-22, the Turkmen delegation headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev takes part in the 110th session of the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, which is held at the United Nations Office in Geneva from August 7 to 31.

The participants of the session began to discuss the implementation of the provisions of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, reports the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The delegation of Turkmenistan, in the course of its speeches, provided information on positive changes in the political, economic, legal and socio-cultural spheres of life of the Turkmen society.

During the speech, it was noted that Turkmenistan resolutely condemns racial discrimination and on an ongoing basis pursues a policy of mutual understanding between peoples, preventing any distinction, exclusion, restriction or preference based on race, tribal, national or ethnic origin.

It was emphasized that in matters of eliminating racial discrimination, Turkmenistan proceeds from the principles of the Convention under consideration, the Durban Declaration and the Program of Action. At the national level, these principles are supported and taken into account, both in the improvement of legislation and in the implementation of law enforcement practice, the source notes.
