On August 14, 2023, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Kingdom of Cambodia M. Mashalov met with the Minister of Tourism of the Kingdom of Cambodia Thong Khon, the press service of the embassy reports.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the possibilities of expanding cooperation in the field of tourism between the two countries. Ambassador Mashalov noted that Turkmenistan is an attractive tourist destination that offers many opportunities for recreation and entertainment. He also stressed that Cambodia is one of the most popular tourist countries in the world and that cooperation between the two countries in this area can be mutually beneficial.
Minister Tong Khon expressed interest in cooperation with Turkmenistan in the field of tourism. He noted that Cambodia also has great potential for tourism development. Cooperation between the two countries in this area can help realize this potential and boost the tourist flow between them.
Also, the parties considered the issues of launching direct flights between the states, it is assumed that the aircraft will fly to the province of Siem Reap.
At the end of the meeting, it was noted that the parties would work on the development of a draft Memorandum of Understanding between Turkmenistan and Cambodia, which could become the basis for joint plans and activities and strengthen cooperation between the tourism industry of the two countries.
