The summit of the heads of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, held in Ashgabat on August 4, will give a new impetus to interstate cooperation. This was stated by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in a letter addressed to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

“I am sure that the trilateral Summit of the Heads of State of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, held on your initiative for the first time, will give a new impetus to the development of our interstate cooperation,” Mirziyoyev said in his message, the text of which was read today on the evening air of the Watan news program of the Turkmen television.

The Uzbek leader noted that during the talks on Turkmen land, issues of joint and rational use of regional water resources, determination of common prospects in the field of energy, full use of existing opportunities for expanding transport and transit potential were discussed in detail.

At the same time, he stressed that experts and specialists have begun to develop specific measures for the full and practical implementation of the agreements.

“Adoption of the Joint Statement following the results of the summit, aimed at strengthening the centuries-old friendship of our fraternal peoples and expressing our common aspirations, has become an important historical event on the path of further rapprochement between our countries,” Mirziyoyev concluded.
