In 2029, new euro banknotes with an updated design will enter circulation, Europulse writes.
The European Central Bank has unveiled themes for the updated banknote design. The list of possible themes included images of the rivers of Europe, birds living in the region, portraits of famous European cultural figures, famous paintings or architectural structures, natural landscapes, as well as the image of the silhouette of a person doing some kind of scientific work, human hands (the slogan “We build Europe”, an illustration of human dignity and democratic values) or a human mouth, symbolizing freedom of speech and a wealth of languages.
Residents of European countries will be able to vote for their favorite option until August 31.
The banknotes currently depict arches, bridges and buildings that do not exist in reality in the styles most characteristic of European architecture.
