More than 260 flights have been canceled in Japan due to the impending typhoon Kanun, the MIR 24 portal writes with reference to the NHK TV channel.

Under the impact of the elements will be the southernmost prefecture of the country - Okinawa and the islands of Kagoshima Prefecture. The typhoon will reach these areas presumably on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Airline representatives said the number of canceled flights would rise.

At the epicenter of the typhoon, wind speeds currently reach 40 meters per second, with gusts of -55 m/s.
