Astronomers have discovered an unusual exoplanet at a distance of 1232 light years from Earth, writes “MIR 24”.
The size of an exoplanet (that is, a planet located outside the solar system) is much larger than Jupiter, while its density is only 1% compared to the earth or 0,059 grams per cubic centimeter (the density of the Earth is 5,51 grams per cubic centimeter).
According to scientists, this planet, called WASP-193b, is more like cotton candy in density, so the exoplanet can be attributed to gas giants, like Jupiter.
A “cotton” planet rotates around a star, which is about 1,1 times more massive than the Sun. WASP-193b makes a complete revolution around its star in a little less than six Earth days.
