Monsoon rains in Pakistan lead to numerous deaths

More than 100 people died in Pakistan after the onset of monsoon rains and floods caused by them, another 180 were injured, AiF-Moscow reports, citing information from the Xinhua agency, which cites data from the Pakistan Disaster Management Authority.

It is noted that the monsoon season in Pakistan began on June 25. Since then, the storm has killed 57 people and injured more than 180 in the eastern province of Punjab. In addition, dozens of houses were destroyed, serious damage was done to peasant farms. The provincial capital of Lahore and the city of Rawalpindi suffered the most from floods and rains, where over 200 mm of rain fell over the past few days. A bridge under construction collapsed in Rawalpindi, killing 12 workers.

In addition, in the northern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rains, landslides and lightning strikes have killed at least 47 people. Casualties were also reported from villages in the western province of Balochistan and the southeastern province of Sindh.
