The 17th Asian Chess Championship among schoolchildren continues in Tashkent. The Turkmen chess players again showed a good result, taking the second and third places in the tournament with the classical time regulations.

According to the press service of the Chess Federation of Turkmenistan, Mahri Agamuradova, who played in the age category of girls under 13 (G13), scored 6,5 points out of 9 possible and shared the first three places with peers from Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan. In personal meetings, the winner was Mudalighe Umandi from Sri Lanka, who defeated both rivals. Mahri took the silver medal, because she defeated Uzbek Sevinch Davlatova during the tournament.

Lala Shohradova, who already won silver on July 14 in the rapid competition, this time with 6 points in 9 games in the same G17 category, took the bronze medal, losing to the winner Guldona Karimova (Uzbekistan, 7 points) and Begimai Zhanybekova (Kyrgyzstan, 6,5 points).

It is also worth noting that Amanmuhammet Hommadov (U17) had chances for a medal until the last round, but in the final game he failed to keep a victory over one of the leaders of the tournament and ended up in 6th place with 5,5 points out of 9 possible. Aiya Bayramova also finished in 6th place with 6 points out of 9 in the category of girls under 9, and Gulmira Seyilhanova, who was in the lead after 4 rounds with a 100% result in the category of girls under 15, lost her position in the middle of the tournament and took 8th place with 5,5 points out of 9.

In a tournament with classical regulations, each player was given 90 minutes for the entire game, with an addition of 30 seconds for each move. “Classic” is the most prestigious type of chess, and only according to the results of this type such official chess titles as “grandmaster” or “international master” are awarded. The Asian Championship will end on July 20 with a blitz tournament.
