Copies of credentials from the newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Brazil in Turkmenistan (with residence in Astana) Rubem Antonio Correa Barbosa were received today by Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Hajiev, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.
The Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment to a responsible position and expressed the readiness of the Turkmen side to provide assistance and support in the implementation of his diplomatic mission.
In continuation of the meeting, the diplomats discussed the prospects for developing cooperation both in the interstate format and within the framework of authoritative international structures.
The Turkmen side expressed interest in developing cooperation in such areas as energy, oil refining and chemical industries, agriculture, transport and the textile industry.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the expansion of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Turkmenistan and Brazil, as well as the prospects for developing cooperation in the field of sports and tourism.
Diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Federative Republic of Brazil were established on April 3, 1996.
