A flash of extreme intensity occurred on the Sun on July 2 at 19:14 US Eastern Time, AiF-Moscow reports, citing the ScienceAlert portal.
Scientists have assigned the flash the most powerful X-class.
The radiation led to the ionization of the Earth's upper atmosphere, as a result of this phenomenon, radio frequency failures occurred in the United States. Radio communications across the country were cut off for 30 minutes.
In the near future, a peak of solar activity lasting 11 years is expected. The next peak of intensity on the Sun is expected in July 2025.
