The President of Turkmenistan took part in the SCO summit

Today, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part as an honored guest in the 23rd meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization via videoconference, reported the press service of the Kremlin.

The summit, which is attended by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, is taking place in online format chaired by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The SCO was founded in 2001. It includes eight countries - Russia, India, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. At the summit, Modi congratulated Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on the country's becoming a member of the organization. Presidents of Belarus and Mongolia Alexander Lukashenko and Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh take part in the summit as heads of observer states to the SCO. The summit is also attended by UN Secretary General António Guterres and CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov, as well as heads of delegations from a number of international organizations and associations.
