From January to May 2023, the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan increased by 3,5% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year and amounted to 363,5 million US dollars. This was reported by the newspaper “Yangi Uzbekiston” with reference to the Agency of Statistics under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
It should be noted that in May, the volume of Uzbekistan's foreign trade with the countries of Central Asia increased by 8,5% and reached 3 billion USD, which is 11,6% of the total foreign trade.
In the context of the countries of Central Asia, the indicators of foreign trade of Uzbekistan amounted to:
- trade with Kazakhstan – 1,9 billion USD (growth by 10,4%), of which export – 576,7 million USD, import – 1,4 million USD;
- trade with Kyrgyzstan – 418,9 million USD, of which export – 306,0 million USD, import – 112,9 million USD;
- trade with Turkmenistan – 363,5 million USD (growth by 3,5%), export – 64,4 million USD, import – 299,1 million USD;
- trade with Tajikistan – 287,6 million USD (an increase of 29,2%), export – 235,3 million USD, import – 52,3 million USD.
