Representatives of Turkmenistan took part in a training on combating human trafficking in Astana

Representatives of Turkmenistan took part in a regional simulation training for anti-trafficking specialists organized by the OSCE in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Specialists from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan also participated in the week-long training. In total, there were more than 100 participants, including representatives of law enforcement agencies, social service providers and civil society organizations, the nCA reports.

The training was aimed at strengthening interagency cooperation and cross-border cooperation, improving the skills of participants in the field of protecting the most vulnerable segments of the population.

The participants of the training were able to work in realistic scenarios as part of interdepartmental teams. In doing so, victim-centred, trauma-informed, gender-sensitive and human rights-based approaches have been developed.

The training was conducted in partnership with the Law Enforcement Academy under the Attorney General's Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), the United States Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and OSCE missions in Central Asia.
