Helsinki Airport was the first in the world to remove restrictions on the carriage of liquids in excess of 100 milliliters in baggage, writes “Argumenty i Fakty” with reference to the Finnish TV channel Yle.

At the airport in the capital of Finland, scanners were installed that work like a CT scanner. They can scan passengers' luggage and check liquids and electronics in carry-on luggage. It is thanks to the new equipment that it became possible to lift the ban on the transport of liquids.

This ban was introduced around the world in 2006 after an attempted terrorist attack with the use of “liquid” bombs was prevented in the UK. Because of this, all these years in hand luggage it was possible to carry containers with liquid no more than 100 milliliters, with a total volume of no more than 1 liter per person. The restrictions applied to any liquids - medicines, cosmetics and perfumes, baby food.

However, the lifting of restrictions will affect only those passengers who fly from Helsinki to other destinations. For transit passengers, the ban on carrying more than 100 milliliters of liquid remains in effect.
