The 71st issue of the international magazine Diplomatic World published an article entitled “Turkmen Alabai dogs a symbol of loyalty and strength”.
The article was provided to the editors of the journal by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Kingdom of Belgium.
As reported in the article, in Turkmenistan, alabai is considered a national treasure and is highly valued for its ability to protect livestock, homes and families. This is one of the most ancient breeds of dogs, dating back from 3 to 6 thousand years and has survived to this day in its original form, retaining its appearance the way its ancestors knew it.
The article also tells about the history of the formation of the breed, since the natural region of its formation is the territory of the Asian continent from the Caspian Sea in the west to the modern border with China in the east.
The article emphasizes the importance and value of this breed for the culture and history of Turkmenistan. Alabai images were found among the ornaments of ancient Turkmen carpets and numerous archaeological artifacts.
