The President of Turkmenistan received the head of the Asian Cycling Confederation

Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Vice President of the International Cycling Union (UCI), President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC) Osama Al Shafar, announced the news program “Watan” of the Turkmen television.

Expressing gratitude for the time devoted to the meeting and the cordial welcome given on Turkmen soil, the guest emphasized the continued interest of the UCI in expanding traditional cooperation with Turkmenistan, which makes a significant contribution to the development of cycling sports and demonstrates a worthy example in the wide familiarization of the population with a healthy lifestyle.

Welcoming the guest and thanking for the kind words, the head of state expressed confidence that during his current visit he would have an opportunity to discuss the current state and prospects for cooperation in the field of cycling, as well as get acquainted with the development of cycling in the country, wishing successful negotiations in this direction.

In continuation of the conversation, was an exchange of views on the prospects for further cooperation in the field of cycling, which has gained great popularity in the country in recent years. In particular, special attention in Turkmenistan is paid to the development of cycling and its popularization among the population, the organization of mass bike rides has become a noble tradition.

Noting with satisfaction that in 2018, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, a Resolution was adopted to proclaim June 3 as World Bicycle Day, the head of state noted the fruitful nature of the interaction of the Olympic Committee and sports federations of Turkmenistan with the International Olympic Committee and other sports structures.

As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized, Turkmenistan has all the possibilities for holding major international competitions in various disciplines of cycling and is ready to consider the possibility of using a modern magnificent indoor cycle track in the Olympic village of Ashgabat.

In turn, the head of the Asian Cycling Confederation noted the experience of Turkmenistan in the impeccable organization of large-scale sports competitions, which serves as a reliable guarantee that world tournaments in the country will be held at the highest level.

Noting that Usama Al Shafar is also the co-chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group between the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates, the head of state expressed interest in strengthening fraternal relations between the countries for the benefit of the peoples of the two states.
