Graduates who successfully graduated from the universities of Turkmenistan will be sent to work in the "smart" city of Arkadag. The relevant Resolution on amendments and additions to the Regulations on the placement of graduates of secondary and higher professional educational institutions approved on February 3, 2019 was signed today by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the Watan information program of the Turkmen television reported.
The document adopted in accordance with Article 30 of the Law of Turkmenistan "On Legal Acts" allows "for the purpose of qualitatively fulfilling the tasks assigned to the institutions, organizations and enterprises of the city of Arkadag, which has the legal status of a city of state significance, as well as the continuous improvement of personnel, from the Ahal velayat and the city of Ashgabat to send graduates who have successfully graduated from the country's universities to work in a modern smart city.
Noting during the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers that the state will continue to create all conditions for educating the young generation, designed to make a worthy contribution to the further dynamic development of sovereign Turkmenistan, the President of the country addressed Vice-premier Nurmuhammet Amannepesov, who is in charge of education, with specific instructions on the strict implementation of this document.
The city of Arkadag, which will house approximately 70,000 people, was built on an area of 950 hectares, 30 kilometers southwest of the Turkmen capital. “Smart” residential buildings controlled via a smartphone, a square with a flagpole, buildings of the hyakimlik and other institutions have been built here.
The construction of this mega-project was started in 2019.
On March 24, 2023, a new Law of Turkmenistan came into force, according to which a special legal status is assigned to the city of Arkadag - a city of state importance. Its opening ceremony will take place on June 29, 2023.
