Ashgabat hosted the International Conference on Financial and Investment Support for Measures for the Rational Use of Water Resources on Tuesday, CentralAsia.news reports.
The conference was attended by representatives of relevant government agencies of all Central Asian countries.
The forum has become a platform for discussing topical issues of water conservation, taking into account modern processes in the arid climate in Central Asia. World-class experts raised issues of financing the water sector in Central Asia for the rational use of water in the context of climate change, as well as regional cooperation in order to implement the ESCAP resolution "Consideration of the conditions for creating a special UN program for the Aral Sea basin."
The experts also considered the preparation of a joint strategy with a focus on climate-smart water management in Central Asia. Here the main emphasis was placed on the joint harmonization of environmental, social and economic aspects of the integrated management of water resources.
