In the old town area in Dubrovnik (Croatia), it was forbidden to move suitcases on wheels along the city streets, writes Europulse. This was done in order to reduce the noise level - suitcases on wheels, if rolled along the cobblestone pavement, make a rather loud sound.
Now tourists visiting Dubrovnik will even have to carry heavy suitcases in their hands, for violating the rule they face a fine of 265 euros. However, in order not to carry burdens, tourists are provided with the opportunity to leave their luggage in a special place outside the old quarters, from where things will then be delivered to the hotel by electric car.
In Dubrovnik, street noise exceeding 55 decibels is legally prohibited: street musicians cannot use sound amplifying systems, loudspeakers from cafes and restaurants were removed.
