The Iranian national football team defeated the team of Uzbekistan with a score of 1:0 in the final match of the Cup of Nations of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA).
The ball was scored by the Iranian striker of Turkmen origin Serdar Azmun in the 48th minute. The meeting was served by the Russian team of referees headed by Kirill Levnikov.
In the match for the third place, the team of Kyrgyzstan was defeated by the national team of Oman - 0:1.
This CAFA-2023 Nations Cup, which started on June 10, was the first in history. The national team of Uzbekistan became the winner of the group, which also included the teams of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Oman, and the Iranians in their group were ahead of the teams of Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan.
It is worth noting that Mehdi Taremi became the top scorer of the tournament with six goals, Serdar Azmun (4) was in second place, and Eldor Shomurodov (3) was third. Serdar Azmun was recognized as the best player in the final match.
The national team of Turkmenistan played in group "A" together with the teams of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Oman. In the opening match of the tournament, the Turkmen football players played a draw with Tajikistan (1:1), in the second game they lost to Uzbekistan (0:2), and in the third game they lost to Oman (0:2).
