The results of the International Information Security Cyber Championship, organized as part of SPIEF-2023, were summed up in St. Petersburg. The competition was held on the Solar Cyberworld platform. The team representing Russia became the winner, Vedomosti reports.
More than 40 teams from different countries, including Turkmenistan, took part in the qualifying stage of the competition, which started in April this year.
The International Cyber Championship allowed information security specialists of backbone enterprises and employees of cyber incident response centers to work out interaction techniques in repelling waves of state-scale cyber-attacks and exchange experience in countering cyber threats. The competition was aimed at coordinating efforts to combat hackers and developing the international community of information security specialists.
“Such competitions certainly serve to strengthen international information security. More than 200 highly qualified information security specialists from 20 countries have gained valuable experience in interaction and development of practical skills. It is necessary to develop the practice of international events in the field of information security and expand cooperation with other countries, attracting new participants,” said Alexander Shoitov, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation.
The first international cyber exercise in Russia took place a year ago, also within the framework of SPIEF. Then the participants practiced repelling cyberattacks on the digital twin of the infrastructure of the energy facility. This year, the organizers have complicated the mechanics of the cyber championship so that participants can try their hand at repelling cyber-attacks in different formats.
The organizers plan to continue the annual tradition of holding the International Cyber Championship, increase the number and expand the geography of participants.
