On June 12, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Ashgabat hosted a reception on the occasion of the national holiday - the Day of Russia. The main guest was Nurmuhammet Amannepesov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.
The reception was also attended by prominent representatives of business and public circles, the scientific and cultural community, the media, ambassadors and military attachés of foreign states and Russian compatriots.
Opening the reception, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Turkmenistan Ivan Volynkin thanked the leadership of Turkmenistan for their careful attitude to the Russian language.
“Friendly relations between our countries contribute to the progressive build-up of bilateral economic cooperation both at the state level and among the business communities of our countries. And the cultural and humanitarian agenda is constantly updated with new, non-trivial projects. In this regard, I would like to express my deep gratitude to the leadership of Turkmenistan for their careful attitude and interest in the Russian language,” he said.
The diplomat added that trusting and warm relations between the Presidents of Russia and Turkmenistan serve as a solid foundation for the Turkmen-Russian relations of in-depth strategic partnership.
“I would like to separately note the invaluable contribution of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslkhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Myalikgulyevich Berdimuhamedov to strengthening the atmosphere of genuine partnership between our countries,” the Ambassador noted.
According to Volynkin, Russia highly appreciates the neutral status of Turkmenistan, its focus on the implementation of constructive initiatives, on reaching a compromise and developing cooperation between the countries.
“I am convinced that Russia and Turkmenistan share common values and ideals. And today, on this significant day, we are especially keenly aware that only together we can achieve the prosperity of our peoples,” he said.
According to Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nurmuhammet Amannepesov, a high level of cooperation in all areas is noted in relations between the two countries.
“Good traditions of friendship and mutually beneficial partnership have developed between our countries. We note the progressive nature of the development of interaction in the widest range of areas,” he said.
According to Amannepesov, an active political dialogue is maintained at a high level - in 2022, the leaders of the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan met in various formats six times.
“There is a strong contractual, legal basis for cooperation between our countries, comprising more than 330 bilateral documents at the governmental and interdepartmental levels. A special place in this base is occupied by the Declaration on deepening the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation, signed a year ago during the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Russia,” he said.
