Day of Amu Darya was celebrated in Dashoguz. Thus, with the participation of specialists from the State Committee for Water Resources of Turkmenistan, teachers and students of the Turkmen Agricultural Institute, local authorities, a round table was held.
During the discussions, the paramount importance of the Amu Darya River - as the main water artery of the region - for the development of the economy of Turkmenistan, neighboring countries, and ensuring the long-term prosperity of the region as a whole was noted. The experts presented the socio-economic measures implemented in the Aral Sea basin through IFAS. In this regard, it was emphasized that the Amu Darya Day serves to strengthen cooperation, taking into account the interests of all states of the river basin.
Also, marking the ecological date, a mass planting of seedlings was carried out on the banks of the Shavat canal. Among the children, a drawing competition was organized on the theme “Amu Darya - the River of Friendship”, the winners of which were awarded certificates of honor and memorable prizes in a solemn atmosphere.
Events on the occasion of the Amu Darya Day were also held in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, according to the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper.
