People who do not wear sunglasses in the summer in clear weather have an increased risk of cataracts, an ophthalmologist warns on the pages of the “MIR 24” portal.

Refusing to wear tinted glasses in the summer or wearing glasses with low-quality glasses damages your eyesight. There is an accumulation of the influence of ultraviolet rays in the structures of the eye, causing the formation of a large number of free radicals - molecules that provoke oxidation processes in cells. A direct consequence of the neglect of sunglasses is a decrease in visual acuity and various eye pathologies.

Bright sunlight leads to unpleasant symptoms such as dry eye syndrome, photokeratitis (inflammation of the cornea), cataracts (clouding of the lens) and pterygium (growth of opaque conjunctival tissue in the central part of the cornea).
