The Ashgabat team became the winner of the men's handball championship of Turkmenistan, which was held at the site of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sports.
According to the newspaper “Neutral Turkmenistan”, six teams took part in the competition: teams from Ashgabat, Balkan, Dashoguz, Lebap, Mary velayats, as well as the “Ashgabat-2” team.
The Ashgabat team is a multiple champion of the country, its coach is Bayramgeldi Chulumbayev. Under his leadership, Ashgabat handball players held the tournament without a single misfire - they won five out of five possible victories.
“The main goal of this competition is to popularize and develop handball among the younger generation, including improving the skills of athletes. It is difficult to overestimate the importance of the participation of young athletes in such competitions, the national championship for many of them is an excellent test of strength and capabilities, as well as a school of education and training of the reserve for the national team. Next month, the country's championship among girls and boys born in 2008-2009 is scheduled to be held, and in the autumn the national Cup will be played and other handball competitions will be held”, - said Chulumbayev.
At the end of the tournament, prizes were distributed as follows:
- 1st place - Ashgabat team
- 2nd place - the team of Lebap velayat
- 3rd place - the team of Mary velayat
The winners and prize-winners of the championship were awarded with well-deserved prizes - medals and certificates.
