The Minister of Health of Turkmenistan met with the Director General of WHO in Geneva

The Minister of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, Atageldi Germanov, who led the Turkmen delegation within the framework of the participation in the 76th session of the World Health Assembly in Geneva, met with the Director General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adan Ghebreyesus.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the interaction of Turkmenistan with WHO.

During the talks, A. Germanov spoke about the measures taken by Turkmenistan in the field of ensuring public health, as well as prevention. He paid special attention to the issues of education in the field of public health, promotion of a healthy lifestyle, prevention and early detection of non-communicable diseases, and information campaigns.

The WHO Director General, highly appreciating the country's approaches aimed at creating a healthy society, providing high-quality and affordable medical care for citizens, and implementing comprehensive immunization programs, announced WHO's support for Turkmenistan in the further development and improvement of the healthcare sector.

The head of the Turkmen delegation invited the WHO Director-General to take part in the 3rd Ministerial Conference dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Ashgabat Declaration on the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases, which will be held in April 2024, the source notes.
