As a result of negotiations between President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, an "Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the PRC on cooperation and mutual assistance in customs matters" was signed in a number of mutually beneficial documents.

As reported on the website of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, this intergovernmental agreement will create a legal basis for further practical interaction between the customs authorities of Turkmenistan and China. In particular, organize joint work to combat customs offenses (including smuggling), exchange information on tariff rates, provide mutual technical assistance, exchange experience and experts, manage customs risks, mutual recognition of authorized economic operator institutions, and much more.

It is expected that the Agreement will expand the capabilities of the customs services of the two countries, establish close cooperation in ensuring the accurate calculation and collection of customs duties, the implementation of prohibitive and restrictive measures, the source notes.
