On May 17, a heavy storm with heavy rain hit the Turkish capital. Hurricane winds blew roofs off some buildings and minarets of mosques, cars were damaged by debris, writes “Izvestia” with reference to information from the Turkish channel TRT Haber.
One of the fragments of the minaret of the Ankara Central Mosque hit a woman passing by and injured her. The victim was taken to the hospital.
Residents of some areas of Ankara were advised to be careful not to leave their homes unnecessarily, for fear of continued downpours.
