On May 28, Turkmenistan will solemnly celebrate the holiday of the Turkmen carpet, the information program "Watan" of the Turkmen television reported.
As Deputy Prime Minister for the Trade Complex, Textile Industry and Entrepreneurship Batyr Atdaev said today at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, on this day, within the framework of the planned celebrations, the National Museum of the Turkmen Carpet will honor the leaders of production, who, for their great merits in the development of the national art of carpet weaving, conscientious, selfless work and professional skills will be awarded the honorary title of the honorary title "Honored Carpet Weaver of Turkmenistan".
In addition, the 23rd meeting of the World Association of Turkmen Carpet Connoisseurs “Turkmen carpet is the soul of Turkmens” is scheduled to be held in Ashgabat, as well as a concert of the country's art masters.
After listening to the information, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the unique art of carpet weaving, the traditions of which have been passed down from generation to generation for thousands of years, is the national treasure of the Turkmen people. In this regard, the head of state gave the vice-premier a number of instructions on organizing all planned festive events at a high level.
According to the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, the holiday of the Turkmen carpet is celebrated annually on the last Sunday of May.
