The coronation in Westminster Abbey of Charles III will begin at 15:00 Ashgabat time and will last 2 hours. As a result of the sacred ceremony, Charles III, who formally ascended the throne back in September last year, will become not just the head of state, but the anointed of God and will take an oath to protect the laws of the country and the Anglican Church.
Great Britain is the last monarchy in Europe, where magnificent coronation ceremonies of the ruler are still held. The coronation of Charles III will be the 40th in a row (opened by William the Conqueror, who was crowned in 1066) and the first for Britain in almost 70 years - since June 2, 1953, when the crown was placed on Elizabeth II. At the same time, Charles III himself will be one of the few who will be at the ceremony for the second time in his life - in 1953, four-year-old Charles watched his mother's coronation in Westminster Abbey.
It is noteworthy that Charles III, who became heir back in 1952, was already older than any of his predecessors when he ascended the throne. On the day of his coronation, he will be 74 years old.
