TRACECA Secretariat ready to provide necessary support to Turkmenistan

Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission Asset Asavbayev, speaking at the International Conference "International Transport and Transit Corridors: Interconnection and Development", which takes place in Ashgabat, noted that Turkmenistan, which was at the origin of the program, last year expressed its intention to join Basic multilateral agreement on the development of the international transport corridor TRACECA.

“Today, all TRACECA countries have supported this initiative, and I hope that Turkmenistan will join the ranks of TRACECA countries in the near future,” he stressed.

He stated that, for its part, the Permanent Secretariat is ready to provide the necessary support to ensure the harmonization and interoperability of various modes of transport in the region, paying particular attention to multimodal transportation, taking into account sea transportation through the port of Turkmenbashy.

The program of international cooperation between the European Union and partner countries on the organization of the transport corridor "Europe - Caucasus - Asia" TRACECA was established in 1993 on the basis of the Brussels Declaration with the participation of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
