President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev on Friday signed a law on the ratification of an agreement with the government of Turkmenistan on the regime of a common state border, the press service of Akorda reports.
“The head of state signed the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of Turkmenistan on the regime of the Kazakh-Turkmen state border,” the message says.
The document was signed on October 25, 2021 following the state visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Ashgabat.
Turkmenistan ratified the agreement on April 19, 2022.
The agreement provides for the regulation of legal relations between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan on the state border. In particular, the norms of the law determine the procedure for protecting the state border, crossing it, transporting goods and other property.
The document also includes issues of doing business, fishing or other activities on the state border, in border zones and water areas.
At the same time, ways to resolve incidents that may arise at the border from a legal point of view are streamlined.
The total length of the Kazakh-Turkmen state border is about 458.3 km.
