The share of non-cash payments has increased in Turkmenistan

The total volume of non-cash payments in Turkmenistan through the E-commerce system from January to February 2023 amounted to 136,5 million manat, reports Trend with reference to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan.

In accordance with the Central Bank, this is 73,2% more than in the first two months of 2022 – 78,8 million manats.

During this period, the total amount of payments through the “Mobile Bank” system amounted to 2,52 million manat, an increase of 71,4% year-on-year (1,47 million manat).

In addition, through the “Internet Bank” system in January-February 2023, the total amount of payments amounted to 687,549 manats, which is 3,9 times more than in the same period in 2022 (175,928 manats).

The financial sector of Turkmenistan is expanding through the introduction of Internet banking services, mobile applications that are convenient for remote payment for goods and services. Also, users often use payment terminals. In connection with the development of online commerce, the growth of non-cash spending is most noticeable in the field of food retail, especially in large and chain stores.
