FIFA President Gianni Infantino will visit Kyrgyzstan for the first time

At the invitation of the President of the Kyrgyz Football Union, Mederbek Sydykov, the head of the International Football Federation (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, will arrive in Bishkek on an official visit. The visit is scheduled for May 4-5, the press service of the FSC reports.

During the upcoming visit, Gianni Infantino will meet with President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov. The joint participation of the head of FIFA with the President of Kyrgyzstan in the opening of a new administrative office of the Kyrgyz Football Union is planned, the construction of which was carried out under the project of the FIFA Forward program.

During the meetings, issues of FIFA support for the initiatives of the Kyrgyz Football Union, in particular, the improvement of the football infrastructure in the country and the development of football, will be discussed.

Infantino was elected President of FIFA at an extraordinary congress in February 2016. In this post, he replaced the Swiss Joseph Blatter, who retired. In June 2019, Infantino was re-elected as FIFA President at a congress in Paris (France). In March 2023, Infantino was again re-elected as FIFA President at the FIFA Congress in Kigali (Rwanda). Both times the elections were held on a non-alternative basis.

From 2000 to 2016, Infantino worked for the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). During the last seven years of his activity in this organization, Infantino served as Secretary General.
