In accordance with studies, women among Russian journalists turned out to be 2 times more than men, and the number of women in this profession continues to grow, writes “Izvestia”.
We managed to collect statistics thanks to data from the Pressfeed journalistic query service. So, in 2019, 1104 journalists registered on the Pressfeed service, of which more than 60% were women and about 40% were men. In 2020, the ratio of women to men journalists on Pressfeed looked like this: 62,8% women and 37,2% men. In 2021, the total number of registrants decreased, but the number of women still significantly outnumbered men – 64,7% of women journalists against 35,3% of men. The trend towards an increase in the number of women in the profession continues in the current year – 66,5% of women and 33,5% of men.
Thus, according to a Pressfeed representative, journalism, which was once an exclusively male profession, is gradually moving into the category of a predominantly female profession, at least in Russia.
