The Russian Football Union made a statement after the refusal of the Russian team to participate in the championship of the Central Asian Football Association.

“The decision not to participate in the tournament was made after an internal discussion, including with the coaching staff of the national team. The decision is due to the timing of the tournament, coinciding with domestic competitions, including the Superfinal of the Russian Football Cup”, - the “Match TV” communication service of the RFU quotes.

The statement also clarified that the participation of the national team in the tournament in Asia was considered as one of the options.

On April 18, it became known that the Russian team refused to participate in the championship of the Central Asian Football Association.

Seven teams will take part in the tournament. In addition to Turkmenistan, these are Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Oman.

The tournament itself will be held from June 9 to 21 in Bishkek and Tashkent. Based on the results of the draw, the teams will be divided into two groups. Matches in the quartet “A”, where four teams will perform, will be held in Tashkent (Uzbekistan). Games in group “B” with the participation of three teams will be held in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan).
