The Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan will distribute 500 tons of elite potato seeds free of charge to 1700 household owners of the republic, reported Sputnik Uzbekistan with reference to the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.
The next meeting, held by the President of Uzbekistan Mirziyoyev, was devoted to the development of the potato sector. According to the head of state, the main problems of this industry are low production, lack of elite seeds, sown areas and warehouses for storage.
In this regard, Uzbekistan plans to pay great attention to the cultivation of potatoes. To this end, all the necessary infrastructure will be built in the country, including greenhouses and refrigerated warehouses, and agricultural producers will also receive benefits. Agricultural scientists are working on the creation of domestic varieties of potatoes.
