A creative meeting dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Turkmen writer Ata Govshudov was held in the velayat children's library of Lebap.
The meeting was held with the participation of schoolchildren, students, educators, creative workers of Turkmenabat, reports Jeyhun.news.
At the meeting, a lot was told about the life and work of A. Govshudov. During the event, small skits based on the works of the writer were shown by schoolchildren.
Also, an exhibition of books by A. Govshudov was organized here.
Ata Govshudov is one of the first novelists of Turkmen literature. In 1939, he submitted some parts of his novel “Perman” for publication to the “Soviet Literature” magazine. This writer's novel in its full version was published only 50 years later - in 1989. “Perman” by Ata Govshudov is one of the best works of Turkmen literature of the Soviet period.
His pen belongs to the novels “Mehri and Vepa”, “At the foot of the Kopet-Dag”. One of his brightest works is the Turkmen version of the epic “Gerogly”. The work was the first edition of this epic in Turkmenistan. He also collected and published many unique examples of Turkmen folklore.
For his outstanding contribution to Turkmen literature and culture in 1950, Ata Govshudov was awarded the Red Banner medal. The writer died in 1953.
In 1992, by the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, Ata Govshudov was awarded the title of People's Writer of Turkmenistan.
