The Italian authorities are planning to seriously toughen the punishment for vandalism and damage to ancient monuments. The relevant bill was submitted to the country's parliament by the Italian Ministry of Culture. If adopted, the fines for such behavior will be calculated in five figures - from 10 to 60 thousand euros, according to Europulse.

Vandals also face criminal liability.

Recently, in the country, climate activists staged several acts of vandalism aimed at ancient monuments. For example, they painted the water in the Barcaccia fountain in Rome black.
