The Spanish "Real" defeated the English "Chelsea" in the first leg of the quarter-final stage of the Champions League. The meeting was held in Madrid and ended with the score 2:0 in favor of the home team.
Goals were scored by Karim Benzema (21st minute) and Marco Asensio (74). In the 59th minute, Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell received a direct red card for a foul of last resort.
Real Madrid and Chelsea also met last season in the Champions League quarter-finals. Then, according to the sum of two matches, the Spanish club turned out to be stronger (3:1; 2:3) and later became the winner of the competition.
The return match of the 1/4 finals of the team will be held in London on April 18.
In the semi-finals, the strongest in the Real Madrid-Chelsea pair will meet the winner of the confrontation between Manchester City and Bayern.
The final of the current draw will take place on June 10 at the Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.
