In Kamchatka, due to the eruption of the Shiveluch volcano, “precipitation” in the form of ash passed, writes “Kommersant”.

Volcanic ash covers the village of Klyuchi - the nearest settlement to Shiveluch, as well as the villages of Ust-Kamchatsky, Kozyrevsk and Maiskoye. The ashes even got into the water pipes, and there are also problems with the electricity supply.

The ash layer has already exceeded 8 centimeters, the last time such a strong ash fall was observed in 1964.

The ash cloud from Shiveluch has already dispersed 500 km from the crater and is moving towards Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, which is located 450 km from the volcano. The eruption was assigned “red” - the highest aviation hazard code.

Shiveluch is one of the largest Kamchatka volcanoes, its height is 2500 meters above sea level, and its age is estimated at 60-70 thousand years.
