Scientists from the University of Surrey (UK) have developed a unique technique that permits them to “look” inside cancer cells.

The essence of the method is to extract individual cancer cells using microscopic tubes and subsequent analysis of their lipid composition. This was made possible through the use of fluorescent dyes and mass spectrometry.

The study found that each cancer cell has its own unique “lipid profile”, which explains their varying resistance to therapy.

According to scientists, their achievement opens up new opportunities for the development of more effective cancer treatments.

In the future, the researchers plan to study the interaction of individual cancer cells with each other, which could become the basis for creating personalized therapy. This was reported by “MIR 24” with reference to Analytical Chemistry.
