Kazakhstan ratified the Agreement with Turkmenistan on the procedure for crossing the state border

Deputies of the Mazhilis ratified the Agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan on the regime of the Kazakh-Turkmen state border, reports Bizmedia.kz.

It is worth noting that the Agreement on the regime of the Kazakh-Turkmen state border was signed between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of Turkmenistan in October 2021.

The document prescribes the establishment of a regime on the Kazakh-Turkmen state border, by defining the rules in force on the specified section of the state border and in the border strips. In particular, the document determines the content of the Kazakh-Turkmen state border, the procedure for its crossing by people, vehicles, as well as the movement of goods and other property through it.

“The regime on the specified section of the state border will be supported by the joint activities of the states and its issues are regulated by the Agreement, national legislation and international treaties to which the states are parties. In accordance with subparagraph 8) of Article 11 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On International Treaties of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, the Agreement is subject to ratification”, - says the conclusion of the relevant committee of the Mazhilis.
