Over 113 thousand tourists visited Azerbaijan in February this year, which is 49% more than in the same period in 2022, reports the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan.
In February 2022, this figure was more than 76 thousand people.
In accordance with statistics, in February 2023, over 1,5 thousand citizens of Turkmenistan arrived in Azerbaijan for tourism purposes.
Russia ranks first in terms of the number of tourists who came to Azerbaijan in January – 35 thousand people. The second place is occupied by Türkiye (23,7 thousand people), and the third by Iran (10,2 thousand people).
Let us remind that Azerbaijan has resumed issuing electronic visas to citizens of Turkmenistan since July 2022. An e-visa is the equivalent of a traditional visa, it gives a foreign citizen the right to enter the country. ASAN visas are issued for a single visit up to 30 days. Citizens of Turkmenistan can also apply for a visa in advance at the consular section of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Ashgabat.
Since March 28, 2023, Azerbaijan has lifted all covid restrictions for aircraft arriving in the country. All foreigners can enter and leave the country by air, no certificate of vaccination or immunity is required for entry. Also, a certificate will not be needed for intercity trips, visiting hotels, catering establishments, shopping centers and gyms.
