KPMG Tax and Advisory LLC can receive the terminals of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport in trust management.

This topic was discussed during an online meeting of representatives of the “Turkmendenizderyayollary” Agency of Sea and River Transport of Turkmenistan and KPMG, the agency's website reports.

“Representatives of KPMG expressed interest in cooperation in expanding the services and capabilities of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport. In particular, it was about the trust management of the seaport terminals”, - the message says.

Trust management is a method of management in which the owner of the property enters into an agreement with the trustee on trust management of the property. The advantages of this type of management are the integration of the port with other transport systems, the improvement of port management, as well as the increase in cargo traffic in the port.

The international seaport of Turkmenbashi is located at the crossroads of cargo routes from Europe to Asia. The area is 152 hectares, the length of the coastline is 1800 meters, the total capacity, excluding oil products, is 17 million tons of cargo annually. The port includes ferry, passenger and several cargo terminals and can serve 17 ships at the same time.

The design capacity of the small cargo terminal is 3 million tons per year. It is designed to ship and store various raw materials, petrochemicals, fertilizers, animal feed, grain, sugar, salt and other cargo.

The capacity of the general cargo terminal (261 thousand square meters) is 4 million tons per year. It is designed to receive and send building materials, iron, steel, wood, machinery and other equipment.

The container terminal handles transit cargo arriving by rail, road and air (up to 400 thousand containers per year).

KPMG is an international network of firms providing audit, tax and advisory services. KPMG offices in 147 countries employ 219 000 employees.
